About this event
Mastering Short Sales
Short sales can present unique opportunities for buyers, sellers, and real estate professionals—but successfully navigating one requires an understanding of a process that looks very different from a traditional transaction.
In this introductory course, you’ll learn the ins and outs of the short sale process, from identifying a potential short sale to understanding lender requirements, timelines, negotiations, and closing. We’ll also discuss what sellers and buyers should expect throughout the transaction and how agents can help set realistic expectations from the beginning.
With the real estate and lending landscape continuing to evolve, we’ll take a current look at how banks are approaching short sales today, what they’re looking for when reviewing a request, and the factors that can influence whether a short sale is ultimately approved.
What You’ll Learn:
• Understand what a short sale is and when it may be an option.
• Learn the basic steps of the short sale process from start to finish.
• Understand the roles of the seller, buyer, agents, and lender.
• Learn what documentation and information lenders typically require.
• Set realistic expectations for timelines, negotiations, and lender approval.
• Explore how banks are currently evaluating and approaching short sales.
• Identify common challenges that can arise during a short sale transaction.
• Better prepare buyers and sellers for what to expect throughout the process.
Whether you’ve never handled a short sale or simply want to refresh your knowledge, this course will give you a practical foundation for understanding and navigating today’s short sale process.
