CULTURE NEWS

  • Columnist Linda Dwyer raised a glass on St. Patrick’s Day as she explained that wearing green shows support for Irish heritage — linking the shamrock’s use to explain the Trinity with Ireland’s nickname as the Emerald Isle.  The Williamson County Sun

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • After a 10-year audit, Georgetown officials found $37,633 in unpaid hotel tax from the city’s three biggest hotels and said the tax helps pay for local tourism projects.  The Williamson County Sun
  • City Manager David Morgan and team from consulting firm Halff and construction company STR broke ground at Garey Park on March 6 to start work on group camping cabins and a new amphitheater. The project will remove second growth cedar trees, build a memorial pavilion, and expand the event space at Garey House — adding more options for local events.  The Williamson County Sun

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Georgetown City Council approved a build permit on March 6 for a 1-acre development—Shepherd’s Village that will add 12 new homes built by Williamson County Habitat for Humanity between 21st and 22nd streets. The land was bought in 2020 and plans have been in place since then.  The Williamson County Sun
