EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Students and teachers across Central Texas are preparing for the end of the school year, with Fayetteville ISD classes set to end on May 9 and Lockhart ISD on May 30. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Following a four-hour interview session, Williamson County Commissioners Court appointed Steven Snell as the new county judge on March 27. Snell (formerly Liberty Hill ISD superintendent) will serve until the next general election on November 3, 2026. The Williamson County Sun
- ➤ The state Senate passed a bill aimed at boosting affordable housing by letting developers convert commercial zones to residential use—while Georgetown’s mayor Josh Schroeder warned the plan could harm the historic downtown by removing local control and costing the city lost fees. Schroeder asked the House to delay the bill’s approval to protect the community’s future. FOX 7
- ➤ Georgetown’s Historic Architecture Review Commission is working with city staff to update demolition policies in the historic district—property owners must now show that their buildings meet required criteria such as loss of historical significance to qualify for demolition permits.
