Good morning, Georgetown.

Seth Carnes, son of a former Williamson County judge, pled guilty to capital murder for shooting his parents at their Georgetown home last year—he has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

The Texas Senate is set to vote this week on a bill by State Sen. Charles Schwertner from Georgetown that would require law enforcement in counties with over 100,000 residents to join ICE 287(g) and offer state-funded training for counties under one million while larger ones cover their own costs. Some local sheriffs warned that the new training requirement could strain budgets and staffing—issues that are driving the debate.
