CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A domestic dispute escalated into a murder-suicide when deputies arrived at a residence just outside Georgetown on Memorial Day at 3 a.m. and found the bodies of Azucena Porcayo, 46, and Alejandro Arzate Valdez, 54—exes with Valdez reportedly shooting Porcayo before taking his own life. KXAN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Tuesday night, the Texas Senate approved House Bill 4—legislation that will replace the STAAR test with a three-test model and revise the school accountability system—and the bill is now sent back to the House for final approval before reaching the Governor’s desk. The new testing model will be phased in over three years starting with the 2025—2026 school year. KXAN
