- ➤ Texas-based H-E-B responded within 24 hours to catastrophic floods during the July 4 weekend by deploying disaster relief sites in Central Texas + mobilizing its employees. The company donated $5 million to nonprofits and is distributing water, food and cleaning supplies in communities including Leander, Burnet + Georgetown. KXAN

- ➤ Gov. Abbott said the Texas Workforce Commission is accepting Disaster Unemployment Assistance applications for Burnet, San Saba, Tom Green, Travis and Williamson counties affected by recent floods. Eligible workers and self-employed persons must apply online or call between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. by Sept. 4—applications must show job loss is due to the storm—state officials said. KXAN
