  • Georgetown held a free water screening event on August 21 at the AgriLife extension office with results released on August 22 at 11 a.m. Future events include a Community and Veterans Job Fair on September 4 at 445 East Morrow Street along with local performances, art exhibits and educational sessions scheduled through September 28—offering residents a vibrant calendar.  The Williamson County Sun

  • Georgetown Police on August 19 arrested a woman with a history of encounters when a mashed potato fight led to the discovery of methamphetamine—she faces drug charges.  The Williamson County Sun

CULTURE NEWS

  • Williamson County Art Guild has partnered with Art Spark Texas to launch the 16th annual Distinguished Artist Veterans Exhibit open to Texas-based active or prior military members. The exhibit will be on display at the WCAG Gallery (708 South Rock Street) from November 7 to November 31 and will feature winning sculptures such as Fleur Sauvage outside Blue Corn Harvest Bar & Grill and Owl near the Georgetown Public Library.  The Williamson County Sun

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, Mayor Josh Schroeder spoke with Corridor Title about plans that will add new retail, housing and entertainment districts and upgrade roads and water and wastewater systems—efforts meant to strengthen economic growth in Georgetown.  The Williamson County Sun
  • After a failed attempt with Burnet County, the Williamson County Commissioners Court partnered with Cedar Park to form the Central Texas Spaceport Development Corporation — an independent nonprofit focused on building spaceport infrastructure. The new entity will lead efforts to support future space projects in the region.  The Williamson County Sun

SPORTS NEWS

  • Georgetown Country Club, the oldest club founded in the 1920s, ended its one-year hiatus after rebuilding its 18-hole layout— it will host fall championships for both women and men.  The Williamson County Sun
