The City of Georgetown will sell parts of its 400 square mile water service territory that serves more than 74,000 customers, and it will keep water service for residents inside the city and ETJ through Highway 183.

Areas outside these limits may be transferred to another utility provider.

Dan Pulatti, the Georgetown Police Department parking ambassador on the Square, works to keep downtown parking free by issuing warnings to drivers who exceed the 3-hour limit and by tracking tire valve positions to see if a car has moved.

He also helps visitors with local directions and tips — a method that keeps the area orderly.

On August 26, the Georgetown City Council unanimously approved a $1.3 billion budget for Fiscal Year 2026 with a tax rate of 35.3 cents per $100 valuation—$457.4 million higher than FY 2025—and noted that council member Ben Stewart was absent during the meeting.

Lawmakers have not set a hearing date to resolve regulations for hemp products with high THC levels.
