GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Georgetown will sell parts of its 400 square mile water service territory that serves more than 74,000 customers, and it will keep water service for residents inside the city and ETJ through Highway 183. Areas outside these limits may be transferred to another utility provider.  The Williamson County Sun
  • Dan Pulatti, the Georgetown Police Department parking ambassador on the Square, works to keep downtown parking free by issuing warnings to drivers who exceed the 3-hour limit and by tracking tire valve positions to see if a car has moved. He also helps visitors with local directions and tips — a method that keeps the area orderly.  The Williamson County Sun
  • On August 26, the Georgetown City Council unanimously approved a $1.3 billion budget for Fiscal Year 2026 with a tax rate of 35.3 cents per $100 valuation—$457.4 million higher than FY 2025—and noted that council member Ben Stewart was absent during the meeting.  The Williamson County Sun

HEALTH NEWS

  • House Bill 46 will expand the Texas Compassionate Use Program by increasing the number of licensed dispensaries to 15 and allowing satellite locations with new options like inhalers and vape pins starting September 1—offering better access for patients with traumatic brain injury, chronic pain, and Crohn’s Disease. Lawmakers have not set a hearing date to resolve regulations for hemp products with high THC levels.  FOX 7

  • Pickleball is growing in popularity in Georgetown as locals join play at the Recreation Center, Tennis Center, and McMaster Athletic Complex—said instructor Doug Oliver, who noted that players of all ages can win by focusing on skill rather than power.  The Williamson County Sun
