ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ An Amtrak train traveling from San Antonio to Chicago hit a vehicle at an unprotected crossing south of Taylor around 10 a.m. on September 3rd—killing the driver while officials confirmed that 71 passengers and nine crew were unharmed. FOX 7
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Georgetown police said that an 18-wheeler carrying an excavator struck the Hwy 29 bridge on Sept. 2, shutting down I-35 and involving five vehicles while two people were hospitalized, one in critical but stable condition — investigators say the driver’s load violated his permit and may face criminal charges. - ➤ Georgetown City Council unanimously approved the annexation and creation of a Public Improvement District for the 620-acre Heirloom development at the intersection of Ronald Reagan Boulevard and County Road 248—this mixed-use project will include commercial businesses and a new Georgetown ISD school. - ➤ Lakeside Estates, a 722-acre development southwest of Lake Georgetown and north of Santa Rita Ranch in the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction, was approved on August 26 for 1,300 units and a resort by city council.
