  • Robert DeWitt filmed unusual lights moving in a strange pattern on September 16 at his home near Andice (10 miles west of Georgetown) after noticing a bright light that was not a star or planet; his video shows a large center light with several smaller lights orbiting around it.  The Williamson County Sun
  • Four downtown Georgetown projects are finalists for Texas Downtown’s 2025 President’s Awards program — honoring outstanding projects, people and places across Texas downtowns.  The Williamson County Sun

  • Juliet Italian Kitchen on the Square will reopen as Juliet Social—a cafe style restaurant with event spaces that can host up to 180 people and will continue serving lunch to the public.  The Williamson County Sun

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Georgetown ISD trustees recognized Jack Frost Citizens of the Month on October 20 by awarding high school seniors Emerson Guerra, Gus Papaconstantinou and Kiley Eisman for their service, leadership and scholarship. The award honors the legacy of former superintendent Jack Frost — who served from 1969 to 1988.  The Williamson County Sun

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The USDA announced that SNAP benefits will not be distributed in November due to the government shutdown, affecting more than 144,000 Texans in four counties including nearly 72,000 children who rely on the program. Local food banks have reported a rise in new households seeking help as families brace for increased food insecurity.  FOX 7

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • In Jarrell, Carlson Pet Memorial now offers water-based pet cremation using aquamation—a gentler alternative that produces 30 percent more remains and leaves pure liquid for organic farmers. Owned by Abraham and Laura Nimeh, the center opened four months ago, has aquamated 50 pets, and plans to expand services as demand grows.  The Williamson County Sun

  • East View High School Volleyball played its final home district game and celebrated Senior Night on October 21 with a win in three sets over Elgin High School.
