COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Six months ago, the Georgetown Animal Shelter merged into the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter at 1855 Inner Loop — now serving as the main hub for pet services. Residents have access to low-cost spay/neuter clinics, microchipping, and other shelter programs.  The Williamson County Sun

CULTURE NEWS

  • A new mural honoring Japanese-American veterans with the 442nd Battalion was unveiled in downtown Georgetown on Dec. 11 near the corner of Church and Seventh streets. Haji Moto Ramen and Sake Bar, just off the Square, will open later this month.  The Williamson County Sun

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Georgetown ISD trustees recognized top high school seniors on December 15 by naming them Jack Frost Citizens of the Month (an award honoring service, leadership and scholarship). The award is named for former superintendent Jack Frost.  The Williamson County Sun
  • Bridges, a career training program for developmentally-disabled youths, is partnering with the local culinary program at the Future Ready Complex to teach cooking skills. This initiative gives students (ages 18-22) a chance to build vocational skills and independence.  The Williamson County Sun
